Lead generation platform · UK home improvement

A two-sided lead marketplace, built in under a week.

We built the public comparison site, the installer portal, the admin platform and the billing engine that connects them: capture, score, route, chase and bill for homeowner leads.

In short

Boiler Comparisons is a two-sided lead generation platform for the UK boiler market. Homeowners request quotes on the public site, every enquiry is scored and matched to accredited installers by postcode, installers accept or decline in their own portal, and the business bills each installer monthly for the leads they took. It went from concept to live in under a week.

  • Lead capture: a seven-step quote form, cost calculator and 29 guides
  • Lead qualification: automatic scoring on urgency, budget and job type
  • Lead distribution: postcode matching with fair rotation and daily caps
  • Lead recovery: unanswered offers chased at 6 hours, reoffered at 24
  • Billing: per-installer monthly statements, collected and outstanding tracked
The problem

Breaking into UK boiler lead generation means competing with entrenched national sites that win on depth and trust. The client was starting from nothing: no site, no installer network, and no way to capture a homeowner enquiry, qualify it, get it to the right installer while it was still warm, or bill for it afterwards. Leads in this market go cold in hours, and handling them by hand does not scale past the first few.

What we built

Depth is what reads as authority in this market, and unlike a fabricated trading history, depth is something you can actually build. The front of the site carries a seven-step quote form, a cost calculator that shows its workings, 29 written guides, 85 UK town pages, and a compare tool covering 100 boilers across 24 brands. Behind it, every enquiry is scored and matched to accredited installers by postcode, with fair rotation so one firm does not take everything and daily caps so nobody gets flooded. Installers accept, decline and report outcomes in their own portal. Staff work an inbox with lead detail, installer management and per-installer monthly billing. An hourly job chases any unanswered offer at six hours, expires it at twenty-four, and automatically reoffers it, so no lead dies quietly at the weekend. Access is magic-link only on a staff allowlist with no public sign-up, and the database functions are locked down so installer contacts and revenue cannot be pulled from a browser.

The result

Live at boilercomparisons.co.uk: twenty-six pages and around thirteen thousand lines, designed, built and deployed in under a week. Around ninety per cent of the engine turned out to be vertical-agnostic, so it is now being reused for solar as the second instance, with heat pumps, windows and EV chargers behind it.

/admin

Every lead scored and tabbed by status, searchable by name, phone or postcode for when someone rings up.
/admin/dashboard
Lead generation dashboard showing allocation rate, billing and coverage gaps
Where leads go and what they are worth, plus the coverage gaps that tell you exactly which installer to recruit next.

Common questions

What is a two-sided lead generation marketplace?

It is a platform serving two customers at once. On one side, homeowners submit an enquiry and get matched with vetted local installers. On the other, those installers pay for the leads they accept. The platform captures and qualifies the enquiry, routes it to the right firm, chases it if nobody responds, and bills for it afterwards.

How long does it take to build a lead generation platform?

This one went from concept to live in under a week, including the public comparison site, the installer portal, the admin platform and the billing engine. Most of that speed comes from having built the underlying engine before, not from cutting corners on it.

How are leads routed to the right installer?

Every lead is scored, then matched to accredited installers covering that postcode. Rotation is fair, so one firm cannot take everything, and daily caps stop any installer being flooded with more work than they can quote.

What happens when an installer does not respond to a lead?

An hourly job chases an unanswered offer at six hours, expires it at twenty-four, and automatically reoffers it to the next installer in the rotation. Leads in this market go cold fast, so nothing is left sitting over a weekend.

Can the same platform work for other trades?

Yes. Around ninety per cent of the engine is not boiler-specific. It is already being reused for solar, and it suits any trade where a homeowner enquiry needs qualifying, routing and billing: heat pumps, windows, EV chargers.

Do you build lead generation systems for other businesses?

Yes. If you are generating enquiries and handling them by hand, or you want to build a lead marketplace of your own, that is exactly the kind of build we do. Tell us where it hurts and we will price it.
