Three systems replaced with one.
Plumbline is a plumbing and heating firm whose admin had spread across separate systems for job management, bookings and certificates, with the same customer details typed into each one. We built them a single app that runs the whole business.
Live and in use
The problem
The firm was paying for several pieces of software that did not talk to each other. A job would be booked in one place, certificated in another and invoiced in a third, with the same customer details retyped along the way. The owner put it best on our first call:
“Sometimes I am putting the same customer's details on four different platforms.”
What we built
One app, built around how the firm already works. The diary, jobs, customers, their properties and appliances, certificates, quotes, invoices and service reminders all live in one place, with customers receiving quotes and invoices through clean share links they can open on any phone.
The part the engineers notice most: on site, they talk the job through into their phone and the app writes it up, trained on the trade's own vocabulary, so the paperwork is done before the van door shuts.
- Diary and job management in one place
- Customers, properties and appliances with full history
- Certificates, quotes and invoices, sent as share links
- Service reminders that go out on their own
- On-site voice dictation that writes the job report
- Connected to the firm's calendar and accounts software
Where it stands
The app is live and in use, and it is on the monthly arrangement, which for a platform means the same thing it means for a website: it keeps gaining features shaped by how the firm actually uses it.
Common questions
If you are running a trade business across several systems that do not talk to each other, then yes, this is exactly the kind of build we do. It starts with a call about how the work actually flows, and a plan and price in writing before anything is built.
Off-the-shelf software makes the business fit the software. A custom build fits the software to the business, which for a firm with its own way of working is the difference between a tool that gets used and a subscription that gets resented. It also costs less than most people expect, because we build fast.
A site that separates domestic, commercial and EV work so each has its own front door, with sixteen services written out properly and a quote route on every page.
